Diani Beach
South of Mombasa, Diani pairs seventeen kilometres of flour-soft sand with a coral reef, colobus monkeys in the treetops and the option of a safari a short flight away — the classic bush-and-beach combination.

Why go
Diani runs along Kenya's south coast as a long, palm-backed stretch of white sand fringed by a barrier reef that keeps the water calm for swimming most of the year. Behind the beach, patches of coastal forest still shelter colobus monkeys, and community-run rope bridges let you watch them at canopy height. The pace is unhurried: beach walks at low tide, reef snorkelling, and evenings that build around the sunset rather than nightlife.
Most stays combine several beach days with a short safari inland, since Tsavo and the Maasai Mara are both reachable by a short flight, making Diani a natural bush-and-beach finish to a Kenya trip. Wildlife and beach can be combined in a single week without much travel fatigue. Aim for the dry stretches, January to February or July to October, and avoid the long rains around April and May.
